WithMe Field Guide

For You, Suggestions, and Favorites

Get better starting points when you want to go out but do not want a blank page.

For You is for the moment when you want to go out, but do not want to start from nothing.

It brings together people, open plans, venues, preferences, location, favorites, and WithMe activity so you have better places to begin. It is not a promise that every suggestion will be perfect. It is a ranked starting point: useful signals, not destiny.

What For You Is For

For You helps answer two questions:

  • Who might I want to go with?
  • Where might I want to go?

That means For You can show both open WithMes and venue ideas.

The value is momentum. You can join a plan that already exists, or find a venue good enough to become the start of a new WithMe.

People You Might Want to Go With

The People you might want to go with section is made from open WithMes that look relevant to you.

From a user perspective, WithMe looks at signals like:

  • your profile
  • your preferences
  • the host's profile
  • the plan's social intent
  • shared interests or similar vibe
  • whether the venue fits your place interests
  • distance or location fit
  • host reliability signals
  • whether the plan is still open and visible to you

The app may show short reasons like:

  • Fits your preferences
  • Place fits your interests
  • Shared interests
  • Looking for Friends
  • Looking for Dating
  • Reliable Host
  • Near you
  • Similar vibe

These reasons are meant to explain why a WithMe may be worth a closer look. They are confidence signals, not guarantees of chemistry, safety, or turnout.

How People Suggestions Are Chosen

For You starts with WithMes you are allowed to see, then narrows and ranks them.

It avoids plans that are no longer open, hidden from you, blocked by safety rules, outside the relevant age cohort, or outside the location/radius being used for For You.

Then it ranks the remaining plans using fit signals:

  • preference fit, such as age range, social intent, budget, and other profile preferences
  • shared interests and profile tags
  • similar vibe or outlook
  • venue interest fit
  • distance from the For You location
  • host reliability and completed-plan signals
  • timing, with nearer upcoming plans generally easier to act on

The order can change as your profile changes, as hosts create new plans, as plans fill or expire, or as you adjust location and preferences.

Places You Might Like

The Places you might like section suggests venues that could become good WithMes.

From a user perspective, WithMe looks at signals like:

  • your location or selected For You area
  • your place interests
  • budget or search filters when you use them
  • venue category and type
  • distance
  • rating and review signals
  • whether the venue has useful photos or details
  • whether the venue is likely to fit the time of day
  • whether the venue has hosted WithMes before
  • recent WithMe activity or WithMe ratings at that venue
  • occasional featured or editorial picks for a city

You may see reasons like:

  • Highly rated nearby
  • Popular nearby spot
  • Easy to get to
  • Used on WithMe recently
  • Has hosted WithMes before
  • Well reviewed on WithMe
  • Good evening pick
  • Good morning pick
  • Good place to host a WithMe

These are confidence signals. They help you understand why a place appeared, but they do not mean WithMe knows exactly what you will like.

Where WithMe Venue Ratings Come From

After a WithMe is completed, participants may be encouraged to review the venue.

Those reviews can include a simple overall rating or more detailed feedback about the venue experience. The goal is to learn whether the place worked well for an actual WithMe: Was it a good setting? Would people choose it again? Did it fit the kind of plan people were trying to make?

That turns completed plans into a community loop. If you choose to leave venue feedback, your experience can help the next person find a better place to host or join.

WithMe uses those venue reviews as community signals. Over time, they can help:

  • show more useful venue ratings
  • explain why a place is suggested
  • surface venues that have worked well for real WithMes
  • improve Places you might like
  • give future hosts more confidence when choosing a spot

Venue reviews are about the place and how well it supported the plan. They are not a public score for another participant.

Customizing Place Suggestions

For You can improve when your profile and place interests are current.

Use customization when you want suggestions to lean toward certain kinds of venues or plans. For example, your interests can help the app notice whether coffee shops, restaurants, arts, outdoors, dessert, bars, or other categories are more relevant to you.

Location matters too. If you change the area For You is using, the people and places shown may change.

Favorites

Favorites are saved venues.

Use favorites when you see a place you may want to use later for a WithMe. Favoriting makes it easier to return to that venue without searching again.

Favorites are useful for:

  • keeping a shortlist of places you like
  • remembering venues you want to try
  • starting future WithMes faster
  • collecting reliable defaults for coffee, dinner, drinks, activities, or group plans

Favorite places may show helpful details such as category, price level, rating, WithMe activity, and when you saved them.

Turning a Suggestion into a WithMe

When a suggested or favorite venue looks right, you can use it as the starting point for a new WithMe.

The venue details can prefill the create flow so you do not have to start from scratch. You still choose the time, privacy, group size, intent, and host note.

This is the core For You loop:

  1. Find a person or place that feels promising.
  2. Open the details.
  3. Express interest or start a new WithMe.
  4. Use chat, updates, and notifications to keep the plan moving after confirmation.
  5. After the WithMe, review the venue so the community and future suggestions get smarter.

What For You Does Not Mean

For You does not guarantee a perfect match.

For You does not mean a plan is automatically better than one you find in Discover.

For You does not replace your judgment.

For You is a helpful filter over a real social world. It gives you better starting points, then you decide what feels right.
